The government of North Korea officially approved 28 hairstyles for men and women.

There is a list of 28 officially permitted hairstyles in North Korea

Women can choose among 18 hairstyles. Of this list above, married women are allowed to wear more stylish haircuts than unmarried ones.

Men are less lucky then women – they can choose among 10 approved hairstyles. Besides, men’s hair can not be longer than 5 centimeters (older men – up to 7 cm) and must be cut every 15 days.

Wearing a hairstyle outside these guidelines is not permitted.
