The largest outdoor pool in the world collects and filters water from the ocean. The water in this giant pool is warmer and “safer” than in the ocean (swimming is prohibited in the area). This makes the pool attractive for tourists. The pool is 1 kilometer long with a total area of 8 hectares (19.77 acres) with maximum depths reaching 35 meters.
The pool was build by a local entrepreneur to provide a safer swimming environment for the city’s visitors. It’s located in at the San Alfonso del Mar resort in Algarrobo, Chile.
