9 million Americans are members of fraternities and sororities

December 10, 2012

Apparently, a lot of colleges in the United States have fraternity and sorority groups. These organisations are basically support groups – sisterhoods and brotherhoods of students founded on the ideals of scholarship, community service, leadership and life-long friendship. The groups are identified by Greek letters and have unusual names, such as Alpha Epsilon Pi, Kappa Sigma and Zeta Tau Alpha, to name a few.

This stuff is taken seriously. Members have their own glossary of terms, initiation rituals and secrecy. There is even an online shop that sells Greek gear for the most popular fraternities and sororities.
