Apple redesigned their screws to win business from independent repair shops

August 8, 2012

According to a reddit user “thrownawayyesok”, Apple redesigned their screws in a way that makes it more difficult for independent repair shops to fix Apple’s devices. The screws feature asymmetric design which makes them less usable in conventional ways.

Will this bring more customers into Apple stores? Maybe.

Is this going to far? You decide. At least it’s not surprising.
