I saw this image (below) and then I thought to myself – why don’t businesses sponsor envelopes? The business would pay the sender’s fee to the Post Office and print their ad on the envelope in exchange. This way, the sender – you and I – would send their mail free of charge. Everyone would benefit.
For example, it costs 50 pence to send a simple mail within the UK. I am pretty sure there any businesses who would pay 50 pence to reach a potential customer. There are organisations such as banks and utility companies who send out millions of bills every month. They pay money for this. However, this cost could be offset by advertisers. It’s simple.
Question is, why is this model not widely employed?
